Together with Tzu Chi, Sinarmas LDA Maritime Supports the Learning Spirit of Children in Aceh Tamiang

As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Sinarmas LDA Maritime (SLM) fully supported the distribution of educational assistance for children affected by the floods in Tanjung Mancang Village, Kejuruan Muda District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.

The floods that struck in November 2025 caused significant damage to residential areas and educational facilities. A total of 450 households were affected, while schools were submerged by floodwaters reaching up to four meters. Classrooms were filled with mud, and much of the learning equipment was no longer usable.

In response to these conditions, SLM took an active role by supporting the humanitarian initiative led by Tzu Chi volunteers from the Xie Li North and South Sumatra communities, in collaboration with Paguyuban Sinar Mas North Sumatra. This support reflects SLM’s ongoing commitment to community recovery efforts, particularly in the field of education as a foundation for the future of younger generations.

On 8 February 2026, the volunteer team departed from Medan to Tanjung Mancang Village to distribute the assistance supported by SLM. A total of 314 school supply packages were distributed to kindergarten, elementary, junior high, and senior high school students across five hamlets. Each package included school bags, notebooks, stationery, uniforms, and shoes. In addition, wearable clothing was also provided to residents in need.

SLM’s support in this initiative reaffirms the company’s commitment not only as a provider of integrated maritime logistics services, but also as a responsible corporate entity that contributes to society. Through collaboration with Tzu Chi and Paguyuban Sinar Mas, SLM seeks to ensure that affected children continue to have access to proper learning facilities.

The initiative was warmly welcomed by the local community. Tengku Syaiful Bahri, Head of Tanjung Mancang Village, expressed his appreciation for the support provided. He hopes that the assistance will help restore the children’s enthusiasm for learning, which had been disrupted by the disaster.

In addition to distributing school supplies, the activity also featured educational and interactive sessions aimed at reigniting the children’s motivation. Through quiz games and a “Tree of Education” activity where children wrote down their dreams and aspirations, an atmosphere of renewed spirit and optimism emerged amid the village’s recovery process.

For SLM, sustainability is not only reflected in reliable and integrated business operations, but also in tangible contributions to strengthening social resilience within communities. Supporting educational recovery in Aceh Tamiang is one concrete manifestation of this commitment.

Through synergy and collaboration, SLM believes that hope can be rebuilt and that the future of the younger generation can continue to be pursued, even in the face of disaster.
