Wanting to Attract Seafarers in Finding Jobs, Sinarmas LDA Maritime Joins Samudera Career Chance for Seafarers

JAKARTA – Sinarmas LDA Maritime is an integrated logistics service provider and shipping company that offers bulk cargo transportation services and port services throughout Indonesia. In order to attract seafarers in finding jobs, Sinarmas LDA Maritime participated in the Samudera Indonesia Career Chance for Seafarers organized by Samudera Indonesia.

This job fair was held on Wednesday (30/08/2023) and took place at Balai Samudera. This activity was themed “In the spirit of MARPOL at 50 and collaboration with crewing agencies in Indonesia”.

Sinarmas LDA Maritime CEO Matthieu Lavoine expressed his support for the organization of Samudera Indonesia Career Chance. Besides being useful to attract seafarers, this activity is also able to become a forum to connect maritime industry players, especially crewing agencies.

“We also provide support in organizing this activity, especially by contributing to the career expo. We hope that the organization of this job fair activity can also facilitate maritime industry players in meeting the needs of the necessary human resources,” Matthieu explained.

Based on data from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia in 2023, the number of Indonesian seafarers has reached more than 1.4 million as of July 2023. Of this number, the majority of seafarers are male with a percentage reaching around 97%.

“We hope that the number of seafarers in Indonesia will continue to grow in the future. The existence of this job fair activity can certainly provide space for Indonesian seafarers to get jobs that match their expertise. Hopefully this activity can be a good start for cooperation between players in the maritime industry, especially Sinarmas LDA Maritime and Samudera Indonesia,” Matthieu concluded.

Meanwhile, Ferry, who is a prospective sailor from Bogor City, West Java, admitted that he was interested and enthusiastic about taking part in the job fair for sailors.

For Ferry, the career opportunities for sailors organized by Samudera Indonesia really helped him to realize his dreams as a sailor.

“I found out about SLM from the internet, especially social media. I admire the SLM booth and also the CV drop system via Google form because it makes it easier for candidates and prospective sailors to find the best position according to their respective skills,” said Ferry.
