Indonesia is one of the largest archipelagic countries in the world, with over 17,000 islands—making vessels an essential mode of transportation. With a coastline stretching more than 108,000 kilometers, Indonesia holds some of the greatest maritime potential globally. The country is home to more than 2,000 ports, including several strategic hubs that continue to expand in response to growing trade and logistics demands.
Beyond passenger transportation, the rising need for both dry bulk and liquid bulk transportation has created strong demand for a robust fleet of cargo vessels. The year 2025 is projected to be a pivotal moment for Indonesia’s shipping industry. Increased investment in maritime infrastructure is providing a significant boost to inter-island connectivity and driving greater efficiency in the nation’s logistics network.
Looking at this great opportunity, Sinarmas LDA Maritime has reached another important milestone in its fleet expansion journey with the official delivery of SLM HERAKLES 1. The handover ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Tuong Aik Shipyard in Sibu, Malaysia, and marked the formal commissioning of the vessel into the company’s growing operational lineup.
The vessel was handed over by Mr. Datuk Lau Nai Hoh, Managing Director of Tuong Aik Shipyard, to Mr. Abdullah Ferial Hasan, Assistant Manager of Newbuilding at Sinarmas LDA Maritime, who attended the ceremony on behalf of the company.
