Sinarmas LDA Maritime Planted 100 Rhizophora mucronata Mangroves as Part of CSR Initiative to Celebrate Indonesia Tree Planting Day

JAKARTA – Sinarmas LDA Maritime, a leading Maritime company in Indonesia, is pleased to announce its participation in the national tree planting initiative, Indonesia Tree Planting Day, by organising a mangrove planting event. The event, held on 18 November, the company planted a total of 100 Rhizophora mucronata mangrove trees.

Indonesia Tree Planting Day is an annual event celebrated on 28 November to raise awareness of the importance of planting trees in preserving the environment and combating climate change. Sinarmas LDA Maritime, which is committed to sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices, decided to contribute to this activity in accordance with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives.

The mangrove planting event took place at PIK Mangrove Ecotourism in North Jakarta, where employees and volunteers enthusiastically joined hands to plant 100 Rhizophora mucronata mangrove trees. This species was specifically chosen for its ability to survive the harsh coastal environment and its important role in supporting marine biodiversity.

Sari Herawati, Head of Human Resources of Sinarmas LDA Maritime, expressed her delight and gratitude for the commendable efforts made by the participants. She said, “In commemorating Indonesia Tree Planting Day, we are reminded of the important role trees play in maintaining a healthy environment and supporting sustainable development. Mangrove forests, in particular, have a very important role in preserving coastal ecosystems and protecting coastlines from erosion. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire others to join us in conserving natural resources for future generations.”

In addition, highlighting the company’s commitment to promoting local culture, Sinarmas LDA Maritime also collaborated with the Mangrove Jakarta Community to create batik using mangrove ink. This unique approach not only adds value to mangrove conservation efforts, but also highlights the potential for sustainable livelihoods derived from this ecosystem.
