World Seafarers Day 2025 is more than just an annual celebration: it’s a global call to action. With this year’s theme, “My Harassment-Free Ship”, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) urges real change in maritime work culture: to make every vessel a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment for all seafarers.

From Awareness to Action: Harassment-Free Ships

This theme highlights a pressing issue that continues to affect many in the maritime industry: harassment and discrimination at sea. The campaign encourages all stakeholders, from ship operators to onboard crews, to foster a working environment free from violence, bullying, and any form of abuse whether physical, verbal, or psychological. The public is also invited to join the movement online through social media by using the official hashtags: #SeafarerDay and #MyHarassmentFreeShip, as part of a global digital campaign to raise awareness and share positive stories.

Marking the Launch of SLM HERAKLES 2

This year’s World Seafarers Day holds special meaning for Sinarmas LDA Maritime (SLM), as it coincides with the launch of our new tug boat, SLM HERAKLES 2, on 20 June 2025, at Tuong Aik Shipyard, Malaysia. Equipped with 2,400 HP, the vessel is designed to support SLM’s maritime operations with greater efficiency and performance. But beyond its technical capabilities, the launch of HERAKLES 2 is also a symbol of SLM’s commitment to seafarers’ safety and well-being. In line with the spirit of World Seafarers Day, we believe that a strong vessel is not only measured by its horsepower, but by the level of care and respect for the crew on board.

SLM is also expecting three more vessels of the same type, currently under construction at the same shipyard as part of our long-term commitment to strengthening our support fleet with modern, high-standard vessels.
